The vision here, with hope and prayer, is that these blog posts can be of affirmation and encouragement (rather than instruction or correction) to this and the next generation to be the person we are called to be. The author was hesitant to post this blog for a long time, not wishing to be in any way misinterpreted as going along with prevailing trends of self-promotion via internet and social media, but has since decided to proceed, due to the urgency of the situation, with a small blog domain in the hope that at least one or two may be affirmed in their true calling in life amidst a torrent of vicious threats to this calling. These threats are in daily life and across the realms of the world wide web. It has got to the stage where one cannot dismiss the possibility of this small effort any longer, not wishing to bear any longer the pain of observing so many precious people be deceived, tarnished and damaged by prevailing trends around us, often through entanglements in the web of the internet, social media influences, TV and film influences, and subtle or direct peer pressures through popular university social culture, all translating into daily life and worldview formation.
We live in perilous times, and the risks to us may or may not already be obvious to you – we are not merely talking of wars, violence, material harms and the commonly acknowledged peer pressures of our time. Many will talk of these and the need for such to cease, and rightly so. However, we are talking of a much deeper risk, and one in which many are not willing to acknowledge and will go to great measure to divert from. Some acknowledge the risks from screens and the internet, but often from an incorrectly discerned or diverted angle. Sadly, the very matters which many of us are too scared to confront, are the compromises which cause the most damage. This is the attack on, and the breakdown of, the joyful, patient, and beautiful Christian values which have been the root and safeguard for our life decisions, society and education systems in Britain and beyond for over 1000 years. You are warmly welcome to read on, so very welcome indeed, whether a Christian believer yet or not. Increasingly more folk are recognising the problem but are trying to solve it without God and by sidelining the very solution to the problem. This is, frankly, a big mistake. With care and prayerfulness, we do not have to give in to the poisonous compromises around us any longer. Should our society and educational systems continue along the path of rejecting Christian heritage and values, there will be tragic consequences for all of us, many of which we are already seeing. This does not have to be the case.
